French Mompreneur’ Reaches National Rank With Total Life Changes

Total Life Changes, National Director, Marie Thurot

When Marie Thurot began her career her father, a successful business leader, would often tell her that her tendency to zig where others zagged meant she would wind up no better than a potato peeler.’

Today Thurot is still making her own way, but her prospects are a fair sight better than Assistant Spud Stripper. A 32-year-old mother of two from the south of France, Thurot didnt truly find her calling until just two years ago, but shes been busily making up for lost time by building her own successful TLC business.

Multi-level marketing is not always a glamorous business, and it requires a great deal of persistence and willingness to potentially annoy friends and family. Thurot learned this firsthand from her friend and former coworker Mélaine Bernard who would also ultimately become her sponsor. Bernard recently became Europes first TLC Global Director, but back in 2013 she was new to network marketing and her pitch to Thurot fell on deaf ears.

I really liked working with Mélaine,’ Thurot remembers, until one day she went on maternity leave and never came back! MLM wasnt well-known in France at the time, and when she tried to call me about an opportunity I turned her down flat.’

Thurot continued to follow Bernards professional progress over Facebook, sometimes against her will’”after leaving a Facebook group Bernard had added her to about her TLC business, Thurot would always find herself quietly re-added within a few days.

Minor annoyance aside, Bernards single-mindedness would ultimately pay dividends for Thurot. By 2016, Thurot had worked in sales for ten years. I was never one to count the hours: I did my job with pleasure,’ she says. But when your child is sick or when you want to take days off to celebrate Christmas with them, if your boss frowns on it its out of your hands. I needed more control over my own life.’ When Bernard reached out to her again about TLC, Thurot was more receptive. She accepted an invitation to an event Bernard had organized for new IBOs.

I immediately understood the strength of this industry,’ she recalls. I saw people who called themselves ‘˜leaders talking about their income.’ Just as importantly to Thurot was their constant evocation of their amazing ‘˜freedom.

When she left the room, she recalls turning to her friend and saying, Okay, Im starting this, and I wont stop. I want to be one of those leaders.’

At the beginning, she tried everything she could think of to get her business rolling: home parties, stands at fairs, hours on the phone calling every last contact. Getting a ‘˜yes is rare, but so precious! And more importantly, just one ‘˜yes can make you forget every ‘˜no you got on the way there.’ In time, the ‘˜yes column began to fill up, and life started to get easier for Marie and her husband Franck.

For the first time in their life, they are no longer short of money. They are able to offer their children nice holidays and a more comfortable day-to-day life. Monsieur was able to buy his huge SUV, and Madame can finally satisfy her passion for shopping,’ she says with a touch of irony. But beyond the financial aspect, she can afford to be around for her children. As her friend Mélaine says, The most beautiful thing that we can offer to our children is our time.’

Thurots father passed away in 2016 before her TLC career began to take off, but she knows that hes watching her, and she wants him to be proud of what she accomplishes. From the stars, I want him to see that his daughter is brave, determined and strong.’ Having now reached the rank of National Director, shes proven that she has inherited something of his gift for leadership, and if today she peels a few potatoes, its strictly to prepare a meal for her family. Theres no telling how far shell go with TLC.
