Herbalife sponsor Russian Soccer Club Spartak Moscow

Herbalife has secured another major European soccer sponsorship, signing a partnership with Spartak Moscow worth a reported US$10 million.

Herbalife will be Spartak's shirt sponsor and enjoy a host of other rights with the club, having agreed to commit a reported US$10 million over the next two-and-a-half years. Russian press reports added that the move was being taken to improve the company's reputation after what were described as 'aggressive' marketing campaigns in the 1990s.
 
The company has become a regular fixture in the sponsorship market, and counts other European giants, including FC Barcelona, amongst its clients. Like Barcelona, Spartak Moscow have enjoyed their share of success, winning nine of the 18 Russian league titles since the breakup of the Soviet Union.
 
The club's home ground, the 78,000-capacity Luzhniki Stadium, the venue for the 1980 summer Olympic Games, was chosen by Uefa to host the 2008 Uefa Champions League final, and is a key part of Russia's bid to host the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
