USANA Health Sciences is a Utah corporation, founded in 1992 by Myron W. Wentz, Ph.D. USANA develops and manufactures high quality nutritional and personal care products with a focus on reducing the risk of chronic degenerative disease and promoting long-term health.

The products are sold directly to Preferred Customers and Associates. The company has operations in 15 markets worldwide where USANA distribute and sell products by way of direct selling. The net sales in fiscal year 2010 were $518 million, net sales in  2009 $437 million  (18% growth).

Open markets: United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia. USANA paid $233 million in distributor earnings in 2010. Netto earnings for the company $45 million.  The most significant item impacting net sales ($80 million) during 2010 was an increase in product sales volumes resulting from an increase in the number of active Associates in Greater China. As of January 1, 2011, the company has 228,000 active Associates and 77,000 active Preferred Customers worldwide.

Products

Nutritional, Skin Care,

The primary product lines consist of USANA Nutritionals and Sensé – beautiful science(“Sensé”), a unique line of skin and personal care products. The USANA Nutritionals product line is further categorized into three separate classifications: Essentials, Optimizers, and Foods. BabyCare’s core nutritional products are categorized similarly.

The research and development efforts are focused on developing and providing high-quality, science-based products that reduce the risk of chronic degenerative disease and promote long-term health. The research and development activities include developing products that are new to USANA and new to the industry, updating existing formulas to keep them current with the latest science, and adapting existing formulas to meet ever-changing regulations in new and existing international markets.

The company's scientific staff includes experts on human nutrition, cellular biology, biochemistry, natural product chemistry, and clinical research. These experts continually review the latest published research on nutrition, attend scientific conferences, and work with a number of third-party research institutions and researchers to identify possible new products and opportunities to reformulate existing products.

Compensation Plan

USANA Compensation Plan 2011USANA has a Binary compensation plan. USANA’s innovative pay plan puts you in control of your commission check with six ways you can make money. With nearly 45 cents of every dollar going back to Associates in the form of commissions, USANA offers a high payout percentage of profitable reporting companies in the industry. $93,000 is the average yearly income for an established, full-time USANA Associate. $24,500 is the annual average of those who earned as little as one commission check each month. Total includes all earnings from the Compensation Plan, Leadership Bonus, Matching Bonus, contests, and incentives.
