Adam Paul Green and Melannie Green are founding distributors and Ambassadors with Xocai, the Healthy Chocolate Company (MXI Corp). They have earned over $3,000,000 with Xocai since 2005 and have built an international powerhouse group of over 65,000 distributors. Recently, Ted Nuyten had the privilege of interviewing the couple.
Adam and Melannie were instrumental in the initial growth-burst of the company and have remained the go-to MLM technology leaders in addition to being the 2nd highest money earners in company history. Although the personal accolades are fun and very much appreciated, the Green’s focus on team achievements and individual growth. With five kids ranging from 18 to 2, they are jumping every day and excited that their creative children are genuinely interested in becoming an MLM entrepreneur. Growing up, Adam worked for his successful entrepreneurial father learning managerial skills, venture capitalism, sales and negotiation techniques in addition to international business finance, investing and entrepreneurialism. As an entrepreneur, he started both a profitable Liquid Contract Manufacturing business and a successful (SEO) Search Engine Optimization company. Not only has Adam had the privilege of working with and for Fortune 100 companies, he’s also learned from some of the best international business minds in the world.
Since 2000, he has been involved in the Health and Wellness Industry as a successful Entrepreneur, Product Developer and Manufacturer of Anti-Aging Skin Care and Juice Products. During his career, Adam has helped the most recognizable retail businesses and the dozens of the top Network Marketing companies obtain incredible success through innovative Product Development and Customized Manufacturing. Adam’s lifetime sales are over $407,000,000. In 2005, Adam hired family members to take over and run those businesses while he left to pursue Xocai 100%.
Adam, how did you got involved into MLM, who "pitched" you?
"I was first introduced to MLM in 1999 by being on the other side of the table: As a Product Developer and Private Label Manufacturer for Network Marketing Companies. I was not at all interested in becoming a distributor. Adam recalls, “Coming from a traditional business background, for years I believed Network Marketing to be silly and fake; I honestly hated the thought of doing MLM. I felt that I was not a good fit for this type of business model at all.”
“My good friend Jeremy Reynolds (a business colleague also in MLM Product Manufacturing) introduced me to MXI Corp right as Xocai was getting started. I had so much respect for him that I told him I would keep my negative opinion about MLM to myself for a night and attend one meeting at his house – one and-only-one meeting.”
Well, as you can imagine, that first meeting was kind of a mess but something about the Brooks Family, their decades of experience with chocolate and the Brooks dedication to this new business stuck out in Adam’s mind. Of the 11 people at that first meeting, 10 people joined that night; and one person took 3 weeks to convince himself he really wanted to do Network Marketing.
In the space of just a few years, we have seen the growth of MXI Corp from its “grass roots” infancy to the multi-million dollar powerhouse it is today. We can only describe it as, “Unbelievable.” Melannie sincerely wants everyone to know that this is not just cliché when she says, “If we can do it, so can you. Get committed; get going!”

Adam admits, “MXI Corp definitely is not the flashiest, most notable or fastest growing MLM Company in the history of Network Marketing. However, I have to give credit where credit is due; MXI Corp is the most consistent growing MLM Company I have ever seen in my 12 years being involved with Network Marketing. Especially when you consider that we have been through one of the roughest economy in decades.” He continues, “When other seemingly powerful MLM’s have fallen from grace and caved in, Xocai just keeps growing and moving forward toward excellence with a focus on helping people find true significance. I like the nice jogging pace we are running at right now.”
Why are you success full?
“I am successful at MLM because I work very hard at it each and every day. I made a lot of mistakes and I still am not perfect but I learn from my mistakes. I like to fail and fail often so I can move on to discover the right way of doing things. I’ve also been fortunate to make a few good connections with influential and financially strong individuals; it is all about who you know and who they know.
“Not very many people tell you how hard it is or how focused you must maintain your work efforts in order to achieve this level of significance. However, I am here to tell you… you must work your guts out.” Melannie adds, “You need work hard every day. You need to make every possible sacrifice. It will hurt. You will want to quit … but you cannot and won’t quit because you will have the vision and understanding that you are not only helping your immediate family succeed, but you are also impacting the posterity of your teammates as well.”

“I am a product of perseverance. I used to fail and fail and fail and I did not understand why. I finally cracked the “business-success-code” and started pulling in a large income. After every one of my business failures, I make critical refinements and timely adjustments; it’s the key! I could, if I wanted to, never work a job again. However, it is my hope that I will be able to help others achieve the same financial freedom and time independence that I enjoy every day.”
Where do you expect your company is going to?
“This is a unique situation,” Adam says. “Xocai’s amazing growth-curve continues to be steady year to year. Consistent double-digit increases in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and extended through 2011 has set MXI Corp up for yet another year of double-digit compounded growth for 2012.”
He continues: “With over 250,000 distributors internationally, spreading product through over 36+ countries through 5 localized Distribution Centers, MXI Corp is expected to reach $97 Million in annual revenues in 2012. The USA, Canada, UK and Scandinavia markets have been the central growth centers for MXI Corp the last 3 years with Asia looking extremely promising in 2012.”
How do you get your leads nowadays, are you cold calling?
The #1 thing to remember is that this business is all about people. Although I enjoy cold calling, I’m using technology almost exclusively to help me make connections and get leads. I’m a big fan of Blogging, YouTube, Twitter and using targeted SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to optimize those technologies. I also like other social media sites like Stumbleupon, Digg and Delicious and find them very successful for Google Indexing when used properly.”
What advice would you give a MLM newbie in general?
“After seven years in MLM, my advice to newbies is … to stay out! Just kidding; kind of. Network Marketing is fun and incredibly rewarding, I just wish that: (1) More people understood what it takes to get over the hump and (2) Even more people acted on that knowledge and did what is required to actually accomplish their lifestyle, financial and time-freedom goals.
I sincerely suggest that newbies manage their expectations (i.e. make them real), be true to yourself, have realistic daily, weekly and monthly goals, and not only realize what it takes to reach your goals but actually do that. I feel there is a disconnect for most people with their goals and what they do on a daily basis to reach those goals. I sometimes wish new people just wouldn’t start IF they are not going to finish and give it their full attention; I’m just being honest. I also wish negative people would stay out of MLM, but like every industry, there are always a few bad apples.”
Which tools/books would you advice?
I don’t have any one author or list of Network Marketing books that I would suggest someone read. There are many, many great authors though. I would just encourage people to learn from what they read – not just read it to say they’ve read it. I hear the phrase, “Leaders are Readers” and I think it is flawed. “Leaders are Learners” and reading good books is only one approach to learning.”
