USANA Opens Thailand

SALT LAKE CITY, USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNANews), a global nutritional supplement company, today announced the official opening of its new Thailand market.  Thailand is the company's 16th international market where independent distributors will have the opportunity to sell USANA's high-quality, science-based products.  USANA will enter this market by initially offering 12 products—four key nutritional supplements and eight skin-care products. Two more nutritional products will become available in mid-April.

Thailand is one of the top direct selling markets in the world, said Dave Wentz, USANA's chief executive officer. They understand direct selling and nutritional supplements and many of our associates have strong ties to Southeast Asia, which is why we chose to enter this market. Strengthening our presence in the Asia-Pacific region is one part of our long-term expansion strategy.

USANA's Thailand office is located in Chamchuri Square, centrally located in a commercial hub in Bangkok.  Over the next few months, as excitement builds around USANA's grand opening in Thailand, both Dave Wentz and USANA's president of Asia Pacific, Deborah Woo (photo), will be in Bangkok to celebrate and support the launch of this new market.

I find keeping the enthusiasm and momentum rolling is fundamentally important when expanding our business into new territory, said Woo. The topic of health is becoming an increasingly popular theme in this region, which is why entering Thailand was such a significant move for us.

About Deborah Woo:

Deborah Woo entered the direct selling industry in 1990 when she joined Amway Hong Kong as a Distributor Relations manager. She would then go on to become Director of Sales for Caring International (Hong Kong) Limited in 1996 where she headed up multifunctional teams in operations, distributor relations, and marketing.

Deborah joined USANA as General Manager of USANA Hong Kong in 1999 with a mission to establish and develop the local market–the company's first expansion into Asia. In 2003, she was promoted to Regional General Manager and became responsible for the Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore markets. As USANA continued to expand in the region, Deborah was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Greater China and East Asia in 2005.

As a result of USANA’s strategic regional alignment in 2007, Deborah was appointed as vice president of Greater China and North Asia, with added accountability for Japanese and Korean operations. Having established healthy business growth in the region, Deborah was promoted to Executive Vice President of Asia in 2008 to continue focusing on the development of USANA’s fast-growing market.
