“I've enjoyed every major MonaVie function since I started my journey almost three years ago. However, something magical happened at the 2013 Salt Lake City Elevate Conference. To think that I almost canceled going at the last minute gives me the goose pumps.
“I was able to bring my mom with me to the conference, and that conference not only changed my life but my mom's also. She told me that in more than 60 years of living, she had never experienced anything like it. She couldn’t believe how nice everyone was, and how everyone else was celebrating each other success. I will forever be thankful to MonaVie for allowing my mom to experience those priceless moments. Seeing my mom so fired up added more fuel to my fire.
A stirring question
“During that convention our great friend, Crown Black Diamond Executive Steve Merritt, congratulated me for my achievements and he asked, ‘How many distributors in your team have qualified for iPad Minis and Jeeps?’ The answer was ‘None.’
“That question was a huge wake up call for me. In corporate America, I have qualified for every award or trip that you can think of. And in the corporate world, you basically just have to worry about yourself. I tried using that same principle in MonaVie, but I got myself stuck because the success of our MonaVie business doesn't rely on us doing 100% of the work; it is more like a 100 people each doing 1% of the work.
“I even tried to argue with Steve Merritt after he asked that question. I told him that as much as I'd like to help everyone, there was so much more that I could do working 80 plus hours at my full time job. He recommended choosing just 2–3 leaders in my organization and run with them to get started. Well, that's exactly what I did when I got back from Utah.
Start with 2, run with more
“Throughout the busy holiday season, I ran with Kelly Chiscull, who was inactive at that time, and Pedro Malagon and Erica Pavon, who refused to join for more than two years. I sat down with them and we set some specific goals. The 4×4 Jeep Program fired them up right away!
“In 90 days we were able to help more than 20 friends get square qualified. Six of them qualified to earn a Jeep; 5 achieved the rank of Star 1000; 2 achieved Bronze Executive status; 6 became Silver Executives; and 1 reached the rank of Ruby Executive.
“Tears are running down my face as I type this. There are no words to describe the feeling of seeing others in our team succeed as well. I did not get emotional at all when I qualified for my Jeep. But I cried like a baby when I went to the dealer with my friend Erick Najera to pick up his Jeep the day before Christmas and then with Victor Leon and Robert Niebla on New Year's Eve to get their respective Jeeps.
It’s not about you
“I highly encourage everyone to take the focus off you and help others achieve their dreams instead. Your dreams will become true as a result of it. I am fired up to attend the Ruby Fly-In this summer, but I already know in advance that I will not enjoy it the same without others in my team there with me.
“I have many business tips to share, but here are some of my top tips:
- Attend every webcast, conference call, local event, and major function possible.
- Stay plugged in with our MVP system.
- Set a goal to sponsor one new person a week.
- Help those who are ready to run get square qualified.
