WorldVentures working within the law, says minister.

WorldVentures – a Triple AAA+ Rated company by Business For Home – is working in accordance with the law, Domestic Trade and Consumerism Minister Hamzah Zainudin confirmed today according to an article in free malaysia today.com

WorldVentures is a company that offers holiday packages to its members.

In 2015, an online news portal revealed that WorldVentures was operating illegally and was being investigated by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture for selling travel-based products without a licence.

In the report, it was stated that officials in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture said they did not issue a license to WorldVentures and that a spokesperson from the ministry had said ‘yes’ when asked if the company was operating illegally in Malaysia.

Hamzah however refuted this, stressing that WorldVentures was now “operating in accordance to the law.”

“A lot of people question me, asking why, I (Domestic Trade Ministry) would give out such a licence. I always tell them that it is because I see great potential in WorldVentures and also for Malaysians,” Hamzah said.

WorldVentures Gobal Sales president John McKillip said the company did not sell travel-based products, but sold memberships which had access to travel packages under SkyZone Travel Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian-based travel company.

“Our product is not travel packages. Our product is merely the membership. Members will then have access to the travel packages which are distributed by SkyZone,” McKillip said at a press conference today.

Elaborating on this, WorldVentures Global Sales and International Expansion senior vice-president Kyle Lowe said the company wanted to comply with the laws in Malaysia.

“WorldVentures has enabled hundreds and thousands of people to fulfil their wanderlust and travel the world.

“As a business, travel is one of the largest industries globally with unparalleled growth potential and we are seeing strong momentum here in Malaysia, where tourism is one of the key drivers of the economy,” he said.

Hamzah said he recognised this as an opportunity for Malaysian citizens and companies alike to expand and explore the global market.

“We see this as an opportunity. SkyZone is only one local company working with WorldVentures so far. In the future, it may want to expand and this is a great opportunity for Malaysian companies,” Hamzah said.
