Rona Giddens Achieves Triple Diamond Rank At Valentus

Rona Giddens began with Valentus in 2015 at the urging of her good friend, Royal Diamond, Wrapshell Alderson.

Rona “dabbled” in the business and barely kept her Emerald status so that she could pursue other interests.  She sat for the difficult nursing exam a few times, but ultimately realized her special talent was connecting with people in other ways—not by curing or treating them but by preventing them from unhealthy lifestyles.  Over the summer, Rona decided to go “all-in” as they say here on the poker tables in Vegas. But, before highlighting reasons behind her recent success, let’s go back to her early years in the Philippines.

Rona remembers spending countless hours preparing for beauty contests, so she can financially support her family.  On several occasions, she needed to place high enough so the winnings could re-pay the make-up artists and handlers…and if anything was left over there might be something decent to eat.  In her own words, she says

“I’ve always been looking for ways to make money since age 5!”

It was during those formative years, she built up confidence and abilities to effortlessly connect with people—especially strangers.  When she came to the U.S., this work effort carried over into several jobs, which in hindsight, didn’t really fit her personality nor her true calling.  Having stints as a retail checker, bank teller, Uber driver, and hospice caregiver only earned Rona enough money to send to her family abroad.

Although some would think these were lost years in dead-end jobs, Rona gained valuable experiences that would help her to grow.  She learned how to provide good customer service, deal with disgruntled customers, and to be compassionate and supportive of grieving families.  These skillsets have molded her into a well-rounded team leader.

Besides the “people skills” picked up from the various jobs, Rona has incorporated the wisdom of mentors and the training tools Valentus offers.  Her husband, Patrick, recognized her unique talents early in their now 19-year marriage, and always insisted she pursue a marketing job.  With insight gained from his days as an Air Force officer and with over 20 years in the financial and tax planning profession, Patrick has helped Rona to be more organized and diligent in running her “back office”.

Not enough can be said about having a good consultant with bookkeeping skills and a solid understanding of finances and taxes!

Unafraid to learn from others and being open-minded have also been key traits behind Rona’s success.  She has taken advantage of communicating with other leaders and used their insights to form her own leadership style.  Dealing with teams all over the world has been a challenge but having tools such as the training videos, webinars, and conference calls have been essential to educating her growing team.  Another ingredient to her success is recognizing people who have the potential talent to grow but only need the opportunity.  Finding and cultivating these “gems” can be a long, arduous process but sometimes it works the other way and those gems have found her!

In wrapping things up, Rona cites a mindset, a way of thinking every day.  When their daughter was struggling in school and being bullied, Rona and Patrick came up with the acronym “F-A-C-E-I-T” to help her cope with her difficulties.  It was catchy, easy way for a middle schooler to remember how to deal with the world.  FACEIT has now kind of worked its way into Rona’s day-to-day business dealings and as a daily mantra.

Being F-ocused on goals, A-ccountable for one’s actions, C-onsiderate of others, and acting in E-xcellence in all we do with I-ntegrity and T-imeliness are all habits we should practice when faced with life’s daily challenges.
