Jim and Marcy O’Hickey
Business For Home defines a leader and a professional networker in Direct Sales as follows:
"A leader and professional networker is the one who has the ability to guide and at the same time is able to motivate team members, inspire respect and confidence and explain the power of the compensation plan".
But they should also have:
- Effective communication: They must transmit the needed information suitably. It’s fundamental for leading.
- Vision: A leader needs to have a vision, which means not only thinking in a short term, but trying to see a bigger picture.
- Balance: Give importance to team members’ opinions.
- Art of Feedback: In order to produce good feedback it’s important to keep it impartial and objective. Criticism must bring solutions and improvement.
I was genuinely interested in trying the Adapt + Hydration products and had been considering making a purchase, but after seeing Jim’s comment on the Cardinals Baseball Facebook post, I no longer feel comfortable supporting the company. The comment was deeply disappointing, offensive, and completely unnecessary.
There is a major difference between having personal beliefs and publicly spreading hateful, divisive rhetoric — especially on a platform tied to a business that consumers are expected to trust and support. Comments like this alienate people, create a hostile environment, and reflect poorly on the brand as a whole.
The specific comment: “Disgusting! Homosexuality is an abomination and shame on the Cardinals for forcing this garbage on innocent kids and families. Pride comes before the fall.”
As a consumer, I pay attention not only to the quality of products but also to the values and behavior of the people behind a company. Right now, this reflects very poorly on the brand. I hope you take this feedback seriously, address the situation thoughtfully, and recognize that many customers do not want to support businesses associated with hateful or discriminatory messaging.
Please do better moving forward.
