Scentsy To Move Into New $27 Million HQ

Scentsy Fragrance products are sold through a network of more than 200,000 Independent Consultants running home-based businesses in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

Scentsy's campus in Meridian, Idaho, USA has a snazzy new centerpiece. Home of top earner Kara Egan.

With six stories, including one below ground level dubbed the lower plaza, the new Scentsy Office Tower totals nearly 168,000 square feet and has pride of place on the company's 63-acre property that company leaders call Scentsy Commons.

The new campus will be a beautiful and inviting place to work, and that's a dream we've had for our employees for a long time, says Scentsy President Heidi Thompson, who co-owns the company with her husband, CEO Orville Thompson.

The company declined to disclose the office tower's cost. Information Scentsy submitted to the city of Meridian indicates the building's shell and core will be valued at about $21.6 million, with interior build-out costing about $6 million.

Nick Ploetz, project engineer for general contractor Engineered Structures Inc., says the office tower, under construction for the past 16 months, has many distinctive features, including a butterfly roof that slopes down to the center from both sides, a central staircase and lots and lots of glass.

Almost anywhere in the building you can see out in three directions, he says. The finishes are very high-end. The granite on the exterior is a feature you won't see a lot of.

Ploetz says ESI crews are finishing up the lower three floors now, and the building should be complete by Oct. 1. Once the tower is complete, all 756 of Scentsy's Idaho employees will be in one location, fulfilling the Thompsons' goal of preserving a family-like culture, Orville Thompson says.

Starting small in 2004, the Thompsons used a direct-selling model to build Scentsy into a consumer-products giant with customers and consultants throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Puerto Rico and Guam. Counting workers in Texas, Kentucky and Puerto Rico, the company's workforce totals 1,019.

The company started work on the property at Eagle Road and Pine Street in 2010, renovating two existing structures for its facilities and manufacturing teams, spokeswoman Stephanie Finch says.

It later added a 191,000-square-foot distribution center, a 107,000-square-foot warehouse and several smaller buildings. Once the office tower is done, the complex will total more than 603,000 square feet, surrounded by grounds that include a clock tower, two water features, an amphitheater and many landscaped beds for flowers and trees.

Ploetz said plans for the office tower include a future tunnel and a skybridge that could lead to a possible new building east of the tower.

About 350 Scentsy employees are still working off-campus, most in leased space at the nearby Portico office building. They will move to the new office tower by the end of the year, says Finch, who is one of those .
