While most of the state's 11 billionaires hail from the Detroit area, the top two spots still belong to West Michigan natives.

The state's richest are amongst the 1,645 billionaires who made it onto the Forbes World's 2014 billionaires list, in an issue that hits newstands this month.

The magazine reported the fortune of the world's billionaires grew by a $1 trillion to $6.4 trillion.

The wealthiest of Michigan's deep pockets are those of Hank and Doug Meijer, with an estimated net worth of $8.5 billion. The brothers, who share chairmanship duties of the Walker-based supercenter chain Meijer Inc., ranked 143rd on the list. The private, family-owned retailer with 204 stores across five states does not disclose sales figures.

Last year, Forbes estimated their wealth at $8.3 billion in a list ranking the country's billionaires.

Rich DeVos, co-founder of Amway, came in at the 196th spot, with an estimated $6.9 billion fortune. The privately-held, Ada-based direct selling giant reported 2013 sales were $11.9 billion, up a $500 million from the previous year.
