The Direct Selling Association (DSA) has elected Al Bala, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mannatech, to their Board of Directors. Bala brings 41 years of experience to the direct selling industry, with 28 of those spent as a field sales leader.
The DSA is a national trade association of more than 130 leading companies that offer entrepreneurial opportunities to independent sellers to market and sell products and services, typically outside of a fixed retail establishment.
Bala will serve a two-year term, helping the organization achieve the goal of promoting the direct selling industry as an industry of integrity. Officers and Directors are recognized industry leaders who are committed to lead and direct the affairs of the Association.
Bala is among a very few select groups of people who have worked in the Direct Sales industry in over 60 countries, working with industry leaders to build large organizations from the ground up. Bala who helped create hundreds of top-level leaders around the globe, was named CEO of Mannatech (a NASDAQ publicly traded company) in August of 2015.
“I have spent 41 years in the Direct Sales industry, contributing to the expansion of a major International Direct Sales company in over 50 new markets, from China to Chile~South Africa to Scandinavia,”
says Bala. Prior to joining Mannatech, Bala served for 16 years as Chief Operating Officer of Britt Worldwide, LLC, one of the largest independent Amway network marketing organizations, launching operations in over 65 countries across the globe with a sales volume of more than $500 million.
Bala joined the direct sales industry full time in 1992 after leaving the Bose Corporation as a manufacturing plant manager, where he oversaw more than 200 employees and was responsible for directing operations.
“It’s an honor to help pay it forward to an industry that has provided me the ability to go from a factory worker to the CEO of a publicly held direct selling company. My story is just one of the thousands this industry has helped cultivate over the years.”
Bala left a very promising career to pursue what he thought was an even better option – his own business – after falling in love with the direct sales industry.
“The organizational skills I learned running a large manufacturing plant with hundreds of people, along with my decades of experience in the direct sales industry, has left me ideally suited for this type of role.”
Since then, Bala has personally helped opened up new markets in more than 50 countries and has worked his way to being named the CEO of a multi-national publicly-traded company.
